New Vascular Scanning Department at Worthing Hospital
At the opening of the Vascular Scanning Department.
Guests Audrey Cottenham, daughter Viv and son David.
The opening of the Vascular Scanning Department at Worthing Hospital took place in mid March. Richard Corbett, Chairman of SSCF presented the hospital with a £20,000 portable ultrasound scanner paid for by the Fund. The portable scanner allows patients who cannot be brought to the Vascular Scanning Department to be examined and assessed on the ward.
Pictured right are new Vascular Surgeons, Peter Laws and Mario Caruana, with Richard and the team of Vascular Scientists who carry out the scanning work at Worthing, Ros Steele, Darren Cheal and Simon Ward.
Guests at the opening included Audrey Cottenham, daughter Viv and son David, (pictured right) whose fund raising event, The David Cottenham Memorial Darts Match, held in October 2005 raised over £1,000 towards the cost of the new scanner. Family and friends also contributed over £500 in lieu of flowers, when David Cottenham sadly passed away last April. Audrey said "It's lovely to see that the Fund is doing something really useful with the money we raised. The evening in October was such a success that we are planning to make it an annual event".
Our thanks also to the raffle winner from Hove who very generously donated her £100 prize back to the Fund but wishes to remain anonymous.
